I would really welcome copies of any old photo's that you may have from any of the area's of Lancashire listed below. Even if they are of old buildings / mills or factory's.

I could then match them up with a recent photo that I can take.

Then place them on our Then & Now section.

The photo's must be free from any copyright.

SUMMERSEAT

Summerseat.JPG (25308 bytes)

Pre 1970's  &  2003

Now this is looking out across the village of Summerseat, which is just North of  Bury, Lancashire. It was taken looking towards Rowlands Church,   which is sadly no longer there, you can see how the new housing estates have taken over the fields.

Railway_St.JPG (20649 bytes)

1920's  &  2003

This is Railway Street, Summerseat, Nr Bury, Lancashire.UK. I well remember staying with my cousin in one of the cottages on the right when I used to visit during my school holidays. You can just make out the chimney in the distance, this has also long gone.

Please make a visit to our Summerseat section of the site, as we have a lovely photo gallery of Summerseat, together with some great history of the village.

BURY NOW & THEN

CLITHEROE

Clitheroe.JPG (30785 bytes)

Abt 1920  &  2004

Clitheroe centre, The buildings are still all there, shame they had scaffold all around the building in the middle on the day I managed to get in a trip to Clitheroe.

Clitheroe_1.JPG (21721 bytes)

Abt 1920  &  2004

Looking the other way up Church Street in Clitheroe, the castle remains are facing at the top of the street. The keep of the old castle is still there.

WADDINGTON

Waddington.JPG (22552 bytes)

Early 1900's  &  2004

This shows the picturesque village of Waddington, and things in the village are much the

same today, as yesteryear, apart from it gets a lot more traffic. Many bushes have grown since the early photo, but the layout remains the same.

DUNSOP

Dunsop.JPG (22521 bytes)

Early 1900's  &  2004

Another lovely village North of waddington in The Trough-of Bowland, you can see that on the left of the picture, that the wall has gone and the area is now grassed, this leads down to the river, most of the old cottages are still there, the single storey building half way up on the right of the photo, is a small chapel, this is still there.

ECCLES

Eccles_Library.jpg (21186 bytes)

Eccles Library 1950's and 2004.

As you can see most of the buildings on the right of the picture have long gone, but you can still just see the church tower.
